Consulting Engineer (Travel)

Job Overview

This Consulting Engineer position represents August Schell by traveling across customers to ensure the smooth deployment of their enterprise technologies. The ideal candidate for this role has sharp Splunk knowledge and keen problem-solving skills who can quickly analyze, identify and resolve complicated issues, as well as bring to light other solutions not previously considered. August Schell Splunk engineers are self-motivated, have an insatiable thirst to learn new technologies, thrive in a fast paced environment and drive for customer success. Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive complex deployments of Splunk while working side by side with our customers to solve their unique problems across a variety of use cases
  • Collaborate across a customer’s organization to deliver the ideal solution and drive feature innovations by listening to the customer’s needs
  • Leverage previous experiences and share best practices to develop innovative solutions for maximum user adoption, product value, and customer satisfaction

Basic Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3-5 years of current experience in technical consulting with working knowledge or recent hands-on experience with scripting languages (bash), application development (java, python, .NET), databases and analytical tools
  • Ability to quickly explore, examine and understand complex problems and how it relates to the customer’s business
  • Experience with both the Unix and Windows operating systems; comfortable on the command line interface
  • Ability to stop, collaborate and listen with technical and non-technical consumers from IT administrators to executive level stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and self-educating, yet willing and able to work collaboratively with both customers and fellow Splunk engineers
  • Well organized with a healthy sense of urgency, able to set; communicate; and meet aggressive deadlines with competing priorities
  • Demonstrable understanding of common enterprise applications (especially in the areas of security and finance)

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance or other relevant field
  • Splunk Power User or Splunk Admin certified
  • Experience/knowledge in statistical and analytical modeling

  • Active security clearance; minimum Secret level (required)
